 Connections (2001)

A 40-minute suite for 2 acoustic guitars and 2 percussion. This was commissioned by Belfast Festival at Queen's and first performed in The Harty Room in November 2001. The original players were:

 The Awakening of the Fairies(2000)

Outdoor pageant for The Gilford Fairy Festival. Directed and co-ordinated by Michael Poynor. Features several songs and instrumental Celtic flavoured pieces.

 

 Dance for the Camera - Billy Boys (1999)

8 minute dance feature for BBC2 Network TV. Directed by Tony Keane for Reverse Angle Productions and choreographed by Dominic Graham, www.dominicgrahamschool.com the piece uses tradition Ulster Protestant music and rhythms as its source and features comtempory Irish Dance.

 

 Traditional Sounds - Heather Mixture (1999)

Mark was the feature of a 30-minute programme by the BBC on composition for unusual traditional instruments. The programme followed the compositional process from picking the instruments to the final performance. The piece was scored for Highland Bagpipes, violin, harp, guitar, flute, lambeg drum, percussion, keyboards and flugelhorn.

 Murder in the Cathedral (1997)

Score commissioned by The Ulster Theatre Company. Perfumed in St. Anne's Cathedral Belfast during The Belfast Festival at Queen's.

 

 Rebellion (1997)

Full scale musical tracing the involvement and motivation of Henry Joy McCracken and The United Irishmen, and their part in the 1798 rebellion against the England in Ireland. Written for and performed by The Dockward Community Theatre Group, Belfast.

 The Homecoming (1993)

A fifty-minute piece commissioned by BBC Radio 2 and The Arts Council of Northern Ireland. Instrumentation - Uillean (Irish) Pipes, Fiddle, Trumpet/Flugel, Tenor Sax/Clarinet, Alto Sax/Flute, Trombone, Guitar, Percussion, Drums, Keyboards, Bass. Celtic influenced jazz, but with a sometimes orchestral type construction, this piece touches on the sentiments felt by those who have left Ireland to live elsewhere.

 

 Back to the City (1992)

Jazz suite based on reminisces of Belfast in 4 movements.

1. Samson & Goliath - a metallic tribute to the two famous shipyard cranes.
2. Sixth Late - The evening edition of the Belfast Telegraph and its street calling vendors.
3. Crown It - The Brass and Wood of the famous Victorian Pub, The Crown.
4. The Garden - Thoughts from the green areas of Belfast, Botanical Gardens.
